Childcare

To help your child get the best start in life we can help you to find a childcare solution that is right for you. We have our own nursery where every child has access to top-quality services, please contact the centre to enquire about our fees and availability of places.

We also have a network of local childminders, supporting them and getting to know them so that we can refer parents to our Childminder Network with confidence.

In addition we have acces to Liverpool Children's Information Service where we can help you find out about all childcare and services for children in your local area.

Education and Childcare

Nursery

The nursery provides education with care for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years and is open Monday - Friday from 8.00 am - 6.00 pm, 50 weeks per year.

All staff are qualified and experienced in delivering quality childcare and implementing the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum. The nursery offers a safe, secure stimulating environment that is welcoming and child orientated. We offer all children opportunities for learning and development by providing new and exciting play experiences and challenging activities. Children's assessments and records of progress are completed regularly by staff and a written report is produced annually for parents/carers.

The children and staff within the foundation stage room (3+) work closely with our teaching staff and link to local primary schools, including Barlows Lane to ensure effective transistion and preparation for school.  The setting actively promotes equality and inclusion providing continuous support for children with special educational needs and for those children for whom English is an additional/second language. Our admission policy covers a wide criteria. Full and part-time places are available in addition to wrap-a-round with pick-up from Barlows School to meet the needs of local families.

 Curriculum

Here at Fazakerley Childrens Centre we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Document to plan activities and assess our children from Birth to 5 years old.

The EYFS is an observation based curriculum where each child has a personalised learning plan based on their own interests, knowledge and understanding.

We really value parents and carers insight into their child’s interests at home.

As part of our provision and in keeping with the EYFS guidance every child in our nursery is allocated a Key Person.

The Key person is committed to ensuring each child feels special and cared for, is listened to and has their needs met in a sensitive and caring way. The Key person forms a relationship with both child and family, to ensure smooth transition from home to nursery, and is a point of contact for parents and carers.

As part of the provision the Key person is responsible for a small group of children. They will make individual plans based on observations, knowledge and prior information about the child. They will also report to parents and carers at the beginning or end of each day.

The EYFS is based around 4 principles

- A unique child

- Positive relationships

- Enabling Environments

- Learning and Development

Learning and Development is then split into 6 areas of learning

- Personal, Social & Emotional Development

- Communication, Language and Literacy

- Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy

- Knowledge and understanding of the world

- Physical Development

- Creative Development

Each area is planned by both staff (adult Led) and the children themselves to ensure development through the foundation stage of education.

We plan for both adult led and child initiated activities which provide interest, encouragement and progress for every child.

Each child’s progress is recorded as a Developmental Journey from Birth, throughout their time at Nursery, and on to the end of their First year at Primary School.

These files are available to you at all times and we aim to formally report each child’s progress twice a year.

Underpinning all of the above is the Every Child Matters Framework.

This is part of the governments 10 year strategy for children. The aim is for every child whatever their background or circumstances to have the support they need to:

- Be Healthy

- Stay Safe

- Enjoy and Achieve

- Make a positive Contribution

- Achieve Economic well being
